The Crown of Adriane / Schafer, R. Murray., 1980

 Item
Identifier: CC-56830-10000198
Scope and Contents Internet Joseph Stevenson: The Crown of Ariadne was written for Canadian harpist Judy Loman, who premiered it on March 3, 1979 in Toronto. It was intended as part of Patria 5, which retells the myths of Theseus, Ariadne, and the Minotaur. Ariadne was the daughter of the King of Crete. Periodically the city of Athens was required to send a shipload of youths and maidens to be herded into the labyrinth (a maze so complex it could not be solved) as sacrifice for the Minotaur. By unwinding thread behind her, she was able to lead the group headed by Theseus (with whom she had fallen in love) out after they slew the Minotaur. We should do it out of the desire to make the house we live in, which is the whole place, in good working order. Robert Ashley: Its okay to sit in your room and listen to a record over and over again when you're fifteen, but if you do that when you are forty, people think you are crazy. But the funny thing is that we have actually allowed ourselves that free time for television. Yoko Ono: Somehow all the things that come out of me like words or music or whatever seem to be not my doing. It just comes in and I immediately write it down. I don't think of it as talent necessarily. I think of it like a good radio. Laurie Anderson: As these two life...
